Mike Carnegie Burma Campaign

Calgary Roughnecks assistant captain, Mike Carnegie, is once again opening his pocketbook and encouraging Calgarians to do the same. Now in its third year, the Mike Carnegie Burma Campaign, strives to further the ongoing efforts of Partners Relief and Development Canada who assists those, especially children, affected by conflict in Burma.

To date, Mike has donated over $30,000 of his own player wage to the charity and is hoping fans will do the same through silent auction items at each home game, a portion of some ticket sales and individual donations via Partners’ website.

“We are so fortunate in Canada. More than anything, I want to bring awareness to the situation going on in Burma,” said Mike Carnegie. “I’ve been involved with the charity for over 3 years now and I’ve seen the difference Partners is making in these families’ lives. In the last year an additional 200,000+ men, women and children were displaced from their homes due to ongoing conflicts and are in desperate need of assistance; assistance that Partners Relief and Development is providing.”

Through crisis relief, education, healthcare and sustainable development projects, Partners Relief and Development works to improve the lives of people in Burma who face insurmountable odds in these regions. The Mike Carnegie Burma Campaign officially launches on Saturday, February 9th at the next home game at the Saddledome.
