GivingTuesday: Rice is Life
Every day they’re forced to make hard choices. This #GivingTuesday, ours is easy. Let’s do this one thing and provide Rohingya families with rice to last a year.Donate Now
This is our why.
“We don’t get enough rations and we are living here always hungry.”
Since 2012, Rohingya families in Myanmar have been systematically driven from their homes in what the UN has called a “textbook genocide,” forced to live in internment camps and stripped of their right to work, attend university, and even travel to town for supplies. When our team asks what their greatest challenge is, overwhelmingly they answer, “we don’t have enough food for our children.”
For 10 years now, our Rohingya friends have not always known for sure where their next meal will come from. 10 years of having to decide whether it’s more important to spend what little money they can gather on sending their kids to school or making sure their tummies are full. Which is why, for our 10th annual #GivingTuesday, we’re going to do something about it.
This is what you can do.
$35 will provide rice for a family for 2 months.
These are families in 6 communities near the city of Sittwe that we’ve been working alongside since our team first responded back in 2012. Your gift this #GivingTuesday means mouth-fulls of hope for their children and peace of mind for parents knowing that they’ll receive regular distributions of rice throughout 2023.Donate Now
Please note: If the GivingTuesday goal is exceeded or if there are significant changes to the situation due to the complexity of working in conflict zones, your gift may be redirected to other essential assistance for the Rohingya communities we partner with.
What makes us unique?
We’ve been going to the end of the road for over a decade.
Our work in Rohingya communities since the early days of the crisis in 2012, through to this day, reflects the core of who we are as a humanitarian service organization.
- We’re community-driven, building dignity through partnering with affected communities to find solutions.
- We stay for the long haul, continuing to show up to help even though it's complicated to do so in conflict zones.
- We keep families fed every month while seeking longer term solutions to transition from relief to development.
Let’s do this for them.
Give families the confidence of a whole year of rice.
Children shouldn’t go hungry because the adults are fighting. This #GivingTuesday, do this one thing and join us in keeping our commitment to deliver food to these families we call our friends.Donate Now
